A Message from the Headmaster

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year!

The Beacon School is the only school in the Philippines authorized by the International Baccalaureate (IBO) to offer the Primary Years programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP). As an IB World School, we are part of a global community of schools that are committed to working collaboratively in bringing the best in international teaching practice to our students. As a Filipino community school, we are also committed to inculcating the values, knowledge and skills necessary to support the evolution of the Philippines. The Beacon founders and Board of Trustees have an unwavering commitment to always moving forward in our quest to fulfill the school’s vision and mission.

The Beacon “village” has grown and changed since its inception nine years ago. This year, the change is even more dramatic than in past years. We have a new “sister” in the Beacon Academy. For 2009-2010 the Beacon School campus will be the adopted home of the first cohort of grade 9 students –The Beacon Academy graduating class of 2013 - as the new campus in Binan, Laguna is under construction. The Beacon Academy will provide Beacon School students a natural alternative to continue their high school studies in a Filipino community school providing international education of the highest caliber.

I must acknowledge and thank our parents and teachers for their extraordinary support over the short history of Beacon and sincerely look forward to another year of working together to bring the best to the Beacon village’s most precious citizens – the children of Beacon!

Mabuhay to the Beacon School and to another exciting school year!

Patrick Ritter
